A Little Birdie Told Me
Purple-Throated Carib Hummingbird
One of the many things I love about our Hash House Harrier group is that there is quite the mish mash of talents throughout the bunch. There are several birders amongst them and one of them, Mikey (not my Mikey), has decided to create a website dedicated to birding for all to enjoy: www.birdsofstkittsnevis.com.
This is a new website that has just been created listing all of the birds documented in St. Kitts and Nevis to date. Included are photos, list of birds, bird trip reports, important information on the unique St. Kitts Bullfinch, tips on backyard feeders etc.
There are 770 species of birds in the Caribbean region (excluding Trinidad & Tobago), of which 148 are endemic to the region. To date, 197 birds have been recorded in St. Kitts/Nevis. Of course, many more are sure to have passed through and the more people who can take the time to document them and send that info along, the better the website will be. If you have any interest in birding at all, feel free to contact The Bird Watchers of St. Kitts & Nevis via their contact form.
Of course, now I keep staring out the window wondering what exactly I'm staring at. It's not enough to just think "bird" anymore. What KIND of bird? Thanks a lot Mikey. Everybody, break out your cameras!!!
